Alfred Morris was a Victorian-era artist who is widely celebrated for his depictions of highland scenes centring on sheep. This large and imposing oil on canvas is one of his later works, this time featuring a Scottish shepherd in traditional garb, watching over his flock as he reclines on a crag, facing out over the glen in the early summer.

Oil on canvas, relined. Signed and dated, framed in an ornate gilt frame, which shows minor wear on the upper right, as shown in the photos. Condition good.
