Sold

A rare Coalport “Japanese Grove” jug, featuring cobalt and gilt to the exterior with birds flying around bamboo, with the Coalport stamp to base dating it to the late 1800’s. This piece is in very good antique condition, with a heritage hairline crack to the base of the interior of the jug, as shown in the last photo, which does not carry through to the exterior of the base.

The Japanese Grove pattern is also known as “Blue Swallows in Bamboo” and was designed in a Japanesque aesthetic by Thomas Blocksidge in the 1880s.
