Rare Pattern Cake Plate Circa 1924

£35.00

This is a lovely antique china cake plate in a very rare pattern (2479) cake plate with handles by Doric China circa 1924, hand decorated and numbered to the back.

Doric was a Chinaware manufacturer based in Fenton (c.1924-6) and then at the Clarence Works, Longton (c.1926-48), Stoke-on-Trent, managed by partners Martha Dale and Harry Meigh until 1933 when the original partnership was dissolved. Harry Meigh continued with the business, taking Ernest Edwin Spanton Reid as a partner. In 1935 Meigh and Reid entered into an arrangement with their creditors and the business was taken over by Royal Albion China Co. in about 1935 but continued to operate under its own name. In 1948 the owner J. H. Dale sold the assets of both Doric China Co. and Royal Albion China to the Jason China Co Ltd and the company ceased trading in 1951.

Diameter: 24cm (measured without handles)
